Photo Friday: Signs and My Picks

Here's my submission for this week's Photo Friday challenge. The assignment for this past week was Signs. Please scroll down for links to photos that are way better than this one. *

I looked at the first 635 submissions to this week's challenge and picked twenty-something that spoke to me, personally. I'm including the entry number so that you can easily vote for any of these pictures on the Photo Friday site if you choose. Voting opens at 12:01 a.m. Central Time on Friday and after that you can vote here.

Please feel free to leave a comment, let me know what you think, good or bad. If people seem to like the idea, maybe I'll do it again.

Here are my picks:

#24 [ sigma's gallery ]; #34 rushmi.com; #55 Jason Maher Photoblog; #118 joe's nyc; #142 Visual Gratification; #144 Focalization; #172 Always Curious; #174 variblog; #178 shao; #224 Shiromi; #229 Timmy Perez; #256 Isolated Images; #270 .mused; #277 DR NIMAGES; #282 Isentrope; #283 Izzy; #297 TwentyFives; #350 Judith Polakoff; #388 Way Out West; #515 Round Here; #523 Liquid Graphics; #538 spinetrak; #571 terence patrick; #582 YF

* I re-wrote this entry -- it was waaaay too long.

Like #571 of the six or so I looked at.

I think I'll submit this and end up being uncontrollably addicted to PhotoFriday. Looks like the kind of site the Internet was made for. Cheers.

Oh, and I submitted that pic to my school's yearbook, since they were looking for hobbies. As everybody shared they like basketball and motocross and all that jazz, I like going to desolate places and taking pictures of interesting things, like this, which was just...there, really in a little turnout someplace in Arizona. So bah.

If I leave a comment, does that mean I definitely love you?

Ahhh, I see my subliminal message is working ...

Seems the link for #283, Izzy, isn't working. Try this.

Your subliminal message is a little ambiguous, though. It says "If you loved me..." That could mean that I loved you once in the past. So really it's telling me that if I leave you a message, I don't love you anymore.

I tried to look it up, but couldn't figure it out. I'm good at writing, but not at explaining grammar. But I think that "If you loved me you would leave a comment" is an example of future perfect verb tense. I think.

Anyway, the real question seems to be whether or not you love me. And, quite frankly, I think it's obvious that you do.

I thought you wanted comments on the pics, not about love! Mr. Fun great photo. As a yearbook editor, any pictures are truly appreciated!

I quote from http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/futureperfect.html:

Like all future forms, the Future Perfect cannot be used in clauses beginning with "when," "while," "before," "after," "by the time," "as soon as," "if" and "unless".

So I'm afraid the future perfect won't cut it. You might try the subjunctive. (I'm showing off. I'm a professional editor.)

As for loving you, I won't admit anything. I'm still pouting because you totally didn't respond to my first post.

I tried to vote, but that website stinks! Explain how to vote, please.

Let me try that again. I'm still learning how to put links in comments ...

In answer to answer K's question about Photo Friday voting:

First, your browser has to support frames. So if it doesn't, just forget the rest of this answer. Follow this link or the link in the post to the link viewer. Then click on an entry in the left-hand frame (I'm #635, for example) and the corresponding photo should appear in the right frame. At the very top of the right-hand frame there's a third (very small) frame. You may have to scroll down to find the "cast noteworthy vote" link. Just click on that, and your vote is counted. It's really not as hard as it sounds, although I had trouble figuring it out the first time, too. Now I vote for myself every week, no problem. (Seriously, you can vote once for as many people as you like.)

And in answer to Izzy, I picked it for that exact reason, because it is simple. Plus, I just liked it.
